Monster attack
Here is a screen shot of the monster. He's a little different here and a little more imposing as well. My goal here is pretty much just to have a shot that reflects how the characters are feeling- terrified. I hope everyone had a great holiday and (if I don't post before it) a Happy New Year!

Sea Monster
So, I was doing a little drawing and I decided to do something a little different. Usually I have an environment and, while I'm painting several of them at once, I took a break and did a sea monster. It won't be the only time you see this guy, I have an environment to put him in later. Anyway, things are hectic because of the holidays, so I probably won't post until next week. Have a Merry Christmas!

Upshot
Hey everyone. Tonight I decided to post this one. I've been working on a lot of things just not really finishing them, lol.... I've found I'm someone who really likes making quick comps and I make so many at a time (which is good) but finishing them is another story. So, here's one I semi finished. It still has a rough feel to it but when you have a job where you paint detail day in and day out, something unfinished is actually a relief to do. Take care, everyone.

Forest
Well, it's been a couple of weeks but the holiday season tends to interrupt things. Here is a quick study of a forest. I didn't get too detailed, I just wanted to coney a quick ethereal mood here and since most of the stuff I've put up has been a little darker (mood and color wise) I thought I would change it up a bit. I hope to be putting more up as the week goes on.
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and try to enjoy your holiday!

Disaster
So, I did more sketching than painting this weekend but here's a painting I did today . It's kind of a continuation of my previous painting with the waterfall- it's the end result of not knowing what is ahead and suffering the consequences. A little morbid-maybe but I just wanted to show a dramatic shot and I thought this would be fun to do. Anyway, I have tons more to paint but I also have that thing called work, so I'm really hoping to get a few more things up this week. Take care everyone!

Afternoon composition
Here's a quick color composition I did this afternoon. I just felt so unbelievably lazy this weekend (due to not feeling well) that I felt I had to do something or it might drive me insane the rest of the week. My goal was to merely get a composition down and not spend forever on painting so I could get something down without feeling too obligated to go in and nit-pick.
Dramatic angle
I've been a little under the weather this weekend but I had a piece I started this last week so I'm just going to put it up as is. I was going for a bit more of a dramatic angle here. Again it's not supposed to be a finished look- it's more of a color treatment than anything. Anyway, take care everyone and have a good week.

Falls
So I was going to do something entirely different but I got this image in my head and really wanted to show this gigantic waterfall scene. This is Painter, of course. It's funny, I used to use Photshop all the time and now I just do fixes in it because Painter is just really working in the look I want. Anyway, here it is and I'll (hopefully) have a few more things up soon. I have about 7 different comps ready to go but I just need time to paint them. Take care, everyone.

More snow
Here's a quick environment painting. I am so sick of the heat and sun in LA and I miss the chilly weather of New York and the mistiness of San Francisco, so don't be too surprised if snow and dampness is a common theme.I don't know if I'll finish it maybe in the future but for now I'll have to move on and finish up some of my other comps. I did this in Painter, which I'm really loving. I honestly don't remember loving it this much in school but now I don't know how I lived without it for so long. Take care....

Higher view
So here's another composition I had to get out of my head. Sometimes these things just stick in my head until they drive me crazy. It's strange but some shots I have in my head just get stuck there until I absolutely can't do anything else until I complete them. In fact, the next few I put up will be that way pushing other work to the background. Anyway, have a good week everyone....

Mountain shot
I did this composition at lunch so I decided to paint it. I did this in Painter and I have to say I really am enjoying this program- it can do just about everything I want it to. Since I wanted to paint this quickly, I just used two brushes, but those two brushes gave me the effect I really wanted. Take care, everyone.....

Exterior
Okay, so I've been pre-occupied lately but more things should be popping up because I got a fun little tool that makes things easier.
Here's an exterior shot of the factory. Here I'm just trying to give a little more drama to this shot with the lighting and composition. Take care and I'll update sooner rather than later.

factory shot
Sorry it's been so long. I'm working on a few different things in what spare time I have and hopefully I'll be getting those up sooner rather than later.Anyway, here's an unfinished piece I decided to post. I was just messing around with how a little flying robot would navigate through the factory. I'll actually be posting a few shots with this little guy. Take care, everyone.

Factory Basement
With this composition I wanted to get a feel for where the characters (the robots) work, so I did a quick color study of the basement. These robots are low-class robots (just older models), so their time is spent underground making sure the "Build-A-Human" factory is kept up and runs smoothly. I thought grungy, yet still well build. I also wanted this to be a contrast between the pristine exterior, which included the lighting as well. Until next time.....

Build-A-Human
So, I haven't posted in a while but I've been a little busy. Anyway, here's the factory I did a quick sketch of in an earlier post. This was actually inspired by The Flight of the Conchords song "The Humans Are Dead". I know some were curious about that so there it is. I actually did this in sketch up and started painting it n photoshop in a couple of the models. It's not finished yet (I'll put it up when it is) and I'm in the process of working on some more finalized robots and the interior, plus a variety of other things. I'll be posting some of that when I can.
Also, thanks to everyone who is commenting. I really do appreciate it and I'm sorry I can't write to you guys individually when you do respond- I've just been really busy and time is hard to come by these days. Anyway, take care and until the next post.....

Goats on the brain...
I decided to draw some goats- why? I ran across pictures of them recently and got a little infatuated with them. So instead of buying one for a pet (which I'm pretty sure would be a bad idea since I live in an apartment), I decided to make some of my own. So here are some quick drawings and don't be surprised if you see more in the future......

Desert quick study
So, I did a quick study of a composition. I just wanted do a quick color study that really caught the heat of the desert. I've been doing some design work and I hope to post that up next. It may not happen in the next few days because I'm working in a new program, so it might take a few days to get used to. Until next time....

Having fun
So, here I just did a quick character sketch and then painted it in photoshop. A friend asked me to give some information on how I painted it (what brushes I used). Lately I've been messing around with the wet media brushes. They have an automatic texture, then I play with the scattering, shape dynamics, and textures on the brush tool. Those give you a variety of textures and are extremely useful for a quick texture.I used it here for a more sketchy look- which I'm really into more right now. You can render and nitpick forever but a loose painting just adds life to things. Until next time....
